Each leaf represents a month in the Celtic tree calendar. Although the calendar is a fantasy and created by the author Robert Graves for his novel The White Goddess, it is a lovely alternative to the astrological birth signs and has its roots in the ancient Celtic Ogham where trees had a special meaning and a role in divination.
